Education workshop on behalf of the new practices on teaching area

New techniques on teaching area are an important element on progress of the education process. In this context Department of English Language and Literature in University College Beder, helded the regional workshop with about 100 high school and primary school teacher’s from Tirana.

Representatives of the cooperating institutions such as Mrs. Elena Dimo, representative of Regional Education Directorate of Tirana, and Mr. Oltjon Haka, representative of British Council of Tirana were present during the opening speech of the workshop.

During their greeting speech they highlighted the importance of such training’s in the development of teaching skills to English language teachers. Also they appreciated the participation of all the teachers from Tirana district. In the end they expressed their commitment in organizing other training’s like this one between the institutions.

Head of English Language and Literature Dr. Isa Erbas, after expressing his welcoming speech to the participators, talked about the importance of learning new strategies on teaching the foreign languages and then explain them to the student’s.

“Year by year, changes made in the technology of teaching process, explaining methods and implementation of new ideas, are increasing a lot”-he said.

The speakers' panel consisted of Albanian and foreign professors, as we can mention Mrs. Elida Tabaku, Professor in the state university of Tirana. In her discussion on the role played by English Language and Literature teachers on rising the creativity among students highlighted the most efficient methods of applying it, the importance of English Language in the professional career of the student’s, why we need creative teachers, how can we involve creativity during the lessons etc.

“Only creative teachers help their student’s to think and act in a creative way”- she said.

The next speaker was Mr. Robert Cook, English professor, who presented the participants with the spoken English language and literature. Above the best methods of learning how to speak English, Mr. Cook, highlighted the continuously discussions with the students, poetry texts, lyrics, reading of many books, storytelling etc.

After that Mrs. Sarah Eagen, Canadian professor who is actually staff of MIST high school, spoke over how to develop writing skills above the students. She highlighted the writing of a foreign language as the most important part of learning it. In the end she gave some instruction to all the participating teachers, as: continuously practicing of the students over several journal articles, reading of extracurricular books, movies or other elements who improve student’s background.

PhD. William K. Martin, USA, part of English Department in Bedwr, spoke over the new strategies implemented on learning foreign languages.

Sharing of personal histories, practicing of relevant grammers, learning of several new words, diction, extracurricular activities etc, were some of his suggestions over enhancing speaking skills.

The workshop ended by asking a lot of questions toward the speakers, mentioning different aspects of the main topic.
